Life In The Fast Lane

I've Been Hearing Stories That   people  have something negative to say about music of the past which in my opinion is the best music!   they couldn't come up with anything close to the songs that were written in the sixties and Seventies these Groups Today  all walk and sing in the shadows Of The Older Ones

We’re in the fast food age. And  A.D.D. . We’re in the fast food, short attention span culture in general.  Television commercials and movies are edit, cut, edit, cut, cut and it’s over. You get a movie and you’re now surprised if there’s a story and nothing explodes. now Let’s go into music. A lot of what’s out there isn’t about the song. It’s about the show and dancing and American Idol. Those kids sing for a minute and 30 seconds and the audience judges on that. They’re judging fast food and attention deficit disorder. Those Kids Are led to believe that if they can't sing like Whitney Houston or Not Good looking  They Won't Make it In This form of entertainment ,This is Total Bull Shit . Look at Tom Petty, Joe Cocker ,Or Meat Loaf What Made People like them .

If you go back to the concept of what it takes to become great, you’ve got to learn your craft, go on the road, put your time in. Now we’re in a day and age where that’s been kind of thrown out the window. It’s about going viral on one thing. It’s about a single. It’s not about making a record with ten songs. Forget it. The concept is “Give me one single,” and how old are you? . When a 16-year-old is considered really great — what amount of experience does a 16-year-old have? So it’s Getting  harder and harder to find the next great musician unless that person has somehow avoided the traps that are already set for them in our culture. Will the next big artist be a singer or guitarist? Maybe not. Maybe he’s going to be a scratcher or a hip-hopper or whatever.

We’re in a different day and age.  we live in this world of fast food and fast-paced, quick-cut lack of story. Where does someone come out of that and become a great filmmaker or artist? There are a lot of kids shooting video with handheld cameras on their phones. You don’t need an expensive 16mm camera anymore or an expensive studio. But you still have to have the creativity, and some element of unique and important creativity.I think there’s something about any music or art that stands out head and shoulders above everything. In any time and place there are going to be people who stand out.  but as far as where that’s going to rank, time is the only thing that tells. The Beatles made such an incredible mark on music and culture, they’re iconic individuals, and 40 years later you can’t deny that ripple in the water of the history of music. Time will tell whether someone from our modern culture is going to show up down the   Road

Why British Singers Lose Their Accents When Singing

Mick Jagger, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Ed Sheeran, Phil Collins and George Michael all grew up in or near London and have very recognizably British accents.  Once on stage, they sing like someone who grew up in New England rather than old.  Yet another example is Adele, who has a lovely speaking voice, a very heavy cockney accent, yet her singing pipes do not indicate her dialect.  One might argue that Adele’s speaking and singing voices were two different people if listening without visuals.  Going beyond the British, we see the same thing with other non-American musicians, such as the Swedish band ABBA, and many others singing in English, yet from various places around the world. It seems like no matter where you’re from, if you’re singing in English, you’re probably singing with an American accent, unless you’re actively trying to retain your native accent, which some groups do.

There are several reasons we notice accents ‘disappearing’ in song, and why those singing accents seem to default to “American”.   In a nutshell, it has a lot to do with  the pace at which they sing and speak, and the air pressure from one’s vocal chords.  As far as why “American” and not some other accent, it’s simply because the generic “American” accent is fairly neutral.  Even American singers, if they have, for instance, a strong “New Yorker” or perhaps a “Hillbilly” accent, will also tend to lose their specific accent, gravitating more towards neutral English, unless they are actively trying not to, as many Country singers might.

a song’s melody cancels out the intonations of speech, followed by the beat of the music cancelling out the rhythm of speech.  Once this takes place, singers are forced to stress syllables as they are accented in the music, which forces singers to elongate their vowels.  Singers who speak with an accent, but sing it without, aren’t trying to throw their voice to be deceptive or to appeal to a different market; they are simply singing in a way that naturally comes easiest, which happens to be a more neutral way of speaking, which also just so happens to be the core of what many people consider an “American” accent.

To put it in another way, it’s the pace of the music that affects the pace of the singer’s delivery.  A person’s accent is easily detectable when they are speaking at normal speed.  When singing, the pace is often slower.  Words are drawn out and more powerfully pronounced and the accent becomes more neutral.

Another factor is that the air pressure we use to make sounds is much greater when we sing.  Those who sing have to learn to breathe correctly to sustain notes for the right amount of time, and singing requires the air passages to expand and become larger.  This changes the quality of the sound.  As a result, regional accents can disappear because syllables are stretched out and stresses fall differently than in normal speech.  So, once again, this all adds up to singing accents becoming more neutral.

My Thoughts On The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Rock N Roll hall of fame is not and awards show or an event that rewards people for there lastest song or movie that is big at the time. It is a place where it forever stamps you in the history books as the band or performer that did something for music that no one has done. The one thing that makes you great. So With This Years Inducts Kiss Finally Get in After Years Of Being Snubed. In 2013 They Have Done Something Different in how you get nominated . They let the fan's vote on line .Wow it's about time concitering the no talent hacks that have be inducted in the past .Like Madonna, Abba and Grand Master flash First Of All These groups are not Rock and Roll. And Second :what did they ever do that was great really come on . In 2012 they pick Abba over Kiss Really come on! There's countless other bands As well  That Have Been Ignored Over The Years But When We Voted in 2013 Did We really Have A say . Instead, the decision is left up to a secretive committee of more than 500 so-called “rock experts,” consisting largely of (hiss!) music critics. yes, I’ve always had a problem with music critics who can’t sing or play a note but who pass judgment on others who can in reality, the choices seem to be largely just a reflection of the personal tastes of who's Ever in control. Public Enemy is the FOURTH hip-hop act to get into the Rock Hall…following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys. Think of it this way: While Public Enemy was VERY influential to RAP, were they more influential to ROCK than Deep Purple? These are the guys that gave us one of the most iconic riffs in music history! And this is the ROCK Hall…and it’s a travesty to all who claim to love rock & roll music. Even Black Sabbath They are in the hall of fame but what took so long .For me that would have been a no brainer Black Sabbath literally changed music forever and that is not my opinion that is a fact I mean if it were not for them you would not have any of the Metal Bands you have today So we as fan's will see how this voting turns out and I hope the bands that deserve to get there spotlight do and all they others knee down in praise to the masters. When kiss were nominated for the rock n roll hall of fame after 15 years of being snubbed  The first thing the fan's Were expecting was that the original Guys would get together at the show and play at least one song since the original four are the one's that are being inducted at first we here  by the time of the show in April of 2014  that Paul Stanley Refused to play with Ace and Peter again Since he did say that after the Reunion and farewell tour. That he would never play with them again . But think about it We already seen the original guys do a reunion tour so them getting up on stage to me would be no big thing. But Peter and Ace could not get up and play with all of the current members ether because it would be a disrespect to every one. About month later after this news we found out that Kiss will not be playing at all at the hall of fame. So who will be playing in there place we will soon
